Exd 35:31 And He hath filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;
Exd 35:35 Them hath He filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, [even] of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.
The man in this picture has a unique gifting. He cleans jaw bones of sharks and sells them. With all my culinary skills I would never be able to clean a jaw bone of a shark..let alone sell it! I had the privilege of meeting this old soul who was sitting and carving a jaw bone. He did not have much in way of possessions except an old beat up boat and a great carving knife...but he was happy! He had found his gifting 50 years ago and was faithfully adhering to it! He seemed content doing what he knew to do best...under the Baja sun!
So what are your giftings? Do you write, paint or are you a fantastic cook? Maybe you can sing beautifully or play a musical instrument; maybe you are good with numbers or a great juggler. How did we become this way? Yes, our parents or other adults nurtured us, and gave us right opportunities.We worked hard at being where we are or a teacher helped us in our formative years.
In my late teens I worked as a teacher at a visually impaired school. Some of my students were great musicians and I would be amazed at their dedication and how they spent hours practicing and perfecting their talent but at the end of it all the Lord says, “I have filled him with the Spirit of God….in all manner of workmanship. As they would say in the King James Version, “what manner of workmanship do thou excel in?” It is not of your own doing but by the Spirit of God.
Let us give Him thanks for our talents and then put them to use for His glory.
